The Dress Code at The Studio
The Studio strictly enforces its dress code. General rules include:
- Hair must be secured neatly off the face for all classes.
- Proper bodywear is always required. Sweatpants, sweatshirts and T-shirts are not permitted in class (except as noted).
- Jewellery is not worn in class.
KinderDance and Primary Ballet
- Pink bodysuit with short sleeves
- Pink tights, Mondor Style #310
- Pink ballet slippers with elastics
- Short ballet skirt optional (No tutus, please)
- Hair must be pulled back and secured in a bun or chignon
- Boys: white t-shirt, black stretch pants, black ballet shoes
Ballet, Small Fry and up
- Black bodysuit, any style
- Pink tights, Mondor Style #310
- Leather ballet slippers with elastics
- Pointe shoes, if required—please speak with Studio staff (Brio sells these.)
- Hair must be pulled back and secured in a bun or chignon
- Boys: white t-shirt, black stretch pants, black ballet shoes
Jazz, Tap & Lyrical
- Black bodysuit, any style
- Suntan tights, Mondor Style #310
- Dance pants or shorts may be worn over tights, or instead of tights
- Jazz shoes
- Tap shoes: Ages 5–6, Mary Jane style, beige, Capezio; Level 1–3, tan, Cuban heel, with Capezio taps; Pre-Intermediate and up, black flat shoe with Capezio taps
- Lyrical footwear: foot undies, dance paws or jazz shoes
- Hair must be pulled securely
- Boys: white t-shirt, black stretch pants, shoes suited to the discipline (Tap shoes using Capezio taps)
Hip-Hop
- Loose-fitting clothing (No jeans, please)
- Indoor running shoes (No black-soled running shoes, please)
- Hair must be pulled back securely
- Boys: loose-fitting clothing (No jeans, please) and indoor running shoes (No outdoor shoes, please)
Adults
- Loose, comfortable clothing
- No outdoor running shoes
Streetdance
- Loose-fitting clothing
- Indoor running shoes (No black-soled running shoes, please)
- Hair must be pulled back securely
- Boys: loose-fitting clothing and indoor running shoes (No outdoor shoes, please)
Exam attire
- Black bodysuit, any style
- Junior and Pre-Intermediate Jazz or Tap: suntan tights, Mondor Style #310
- Intermediate and Senior Jazz or Tap: black tights, Mondor Style #310
- All Ballet: pink tights, Mondor Style #310
- Boys: white t-shirt, black stretch pants, shoes suited to the discipline
